Steamed salmon with greens
via Instagram: Steamed Salmon and stir-fried greens. The salmon was steamed with water infused with tarragon and basil. The fish was steamed as is, no salt, no pepper, no anything but itself. I then prepared an oil infused with garlic and ginger. At very low heat, finely chopped garlic and grated ginger was put until soft and cooked but not burned. A little salt was added at the end. Afterwards, the oil was strained to take out the garlic and ginger, leaving the oil at its clean state. The beans and broccoli were stir-fried in the pan used during the oil infusion process. Infused oil was drizzled needed. Teaspoonfuls of herbed infused water used in steaming the salmon was also put to make little steam for the vegetables to cook evenly and faster. During serving, a little dash of salt and freshly milled peppercorns were added on the salmon, and the infused oil was poured on top of the fish and vegetables.
Shrimp Thermidor
via Instagram: 3 Cheese Shrimp Thermidor I used mozzarella, gouda, & blue cheese; on top of finely chopped garlic, pepper, paprika. No salt, the cheeses already provide the saltiness needed, specially the strong taste of the blue cheese. The vegetables on the sides are laced with olive oil, rock salt, fresh peppercorns, dried rosemary.

via Instagram: I love these prints on my new cotton canvas shopping bag I bought from Rustan's. I accidentally bought this one Saturday morning as I was doing my grocery shopping a few weeks ago. Now I don't not have to buy eco-bags anymore, this canvas bag fits all, fashionable and environment friendly. Now... I have start to think, plan, and write down my menu for this weekend. Good thing the morning crowd here at McDonald's Farmer's Market is a bit quiet so I can think.

I thought of taking the long but scenic route from office to the train station. Good thing I did, and I was reminded. I know of few others who need to be reminded too.

via Instagram: Grilling Pompano - One of my favorite fishes, very versatile and flavorful. This is how I grill this fish. To pop out its ocean flavor, I make sure it is cleaned and at room temperature before grilling. No salt or spices nor any herbs and sauces were added before grilling. I use a cast-iron grill on top of an electric stove, as I live in a condominium. Grilling the fish without anything to enhance its taste will make its natural flavor pop. Pompano meat is tasty, and you feel like you're eating it at the beach because you can just taste the ocean. I'll use a Japanese style sauce for dipping later... Mirin, soy sauce, grated ginger, sugar.

via Instagram: Couscous - We were curious on what this food tastes like, so I bought 2 boxes. This is the very first time I cooked couscous, good thing it was quick to cook but tedious. It tastes good, buttery, but the texture is more on the mushy side. We were not able to finish the whole bowl. Perhaps because of the texture, as we were so much accustomed to eating rice. The fine grains and mushy texture of the couscous was less appealing, nonetheless, it was a good dish, something new.
Grilled Pork Belly
via Instagram: Grilled pork belly and portobello mushrooms, onions, tomatoes. The sauce is made of 1 part mirin, 1 part soy sauce, 1 tablespoon sugar. Heated into a sauce pan, reduce until a little thick. The sauce is basted onto the meat and vegetables while grilling. #sundaylunch #weekendmenu
